Turnstiles and pedestrian gates

A turnstile lets one person pass at a time, and it can enforce one-way traffic or require a credential, ticket, or pass. Turnstiles are used for secured entry control, asset protection, patron counting, and crowd control.

Optical turnstiles: Sensor lanes that detect each passage. A common fit for staffed lobbies where appearance and throughput matter.
Waist high turnstiles: Rotating arms at waist height. Clear physical control at a lower cost and footprint than full height units.
Full height turnstiles: Rotating barriers roughly the height of a doorway, for perimeter and unstaffed entries where someone climbing over is a real concern.

Our turnstiles work indoors or outdoors, with single or bi-directional control, electric lock or manual versions, speed control for a safe rotation, and an anti-entrapment design. The turnstile controller integrates with access control systems, so your credential readers can drive it.

Full height turnstiles are often installed with a hydraulically dampened, self-closing pedestrian security gate. Options include manual or electric operation, magnetic lock or electric strike, fail-safe or fail-secure operation, mounting plates for credential readers, and pushbars for exit direction. Plan accessible entry and emergency exit into the layout from the start; the architect or code official sets what the building requires.

Fixed, breakaway, and retractable bollards

A bollard is a short post that creates a protective or architectural perimeter. Some guide people and mark boundaries. Others are built to physically block vehicles and protect people and property.

Fixed bollards: Permanent posts for storefronts, building corners, walkways, and equipment.
Breakaway bollards: Designed to give way, often used where emergency vehicles may need to get through.
Retractable bollards: Also called telescopic or operable bollards. They lower into the ground to allow vehicle access without needing storage, which helps in mixed-use public spaces, event areas, and seasonal access points.

A bollard that marks a walkway and a bollard that stops a vehicle can look alike. The difference is the post, what is inside it, and the foundation it sits in. If a project calls for a certified crash rating, that rating belongs to a specific tested product and installation detail, and the requirement usually comes from the architect or security consultant.
