Every spring, Holland transforms into one of the most visited destinations in Michigan. Five million tulips bloom across six miles of Tulip Lanes, parades wind through downtown, Dutch Dancers perform in authentic costumes, and the Tulip Time carnival brings families together for a week of celebration. For more than 15 years, Fence Consultants of West Michigan has been a behind-the-scenes part of making that happen.
Since 2010, our Holland team has provided the temporary perimeter fencing around the Tulip Time carnival — keeping the event safe, organized, and ready for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who attend each year.
What We Do at Tulip Time
Every May, before the carnival opens, our crew installs temporary perimeter fencing around the entire carnival footprint. Temporary fencing for a large public event like this is more involved than it might look from the outside. The fence has to go up quickly, hold up through a full week of heavy foot traffic and activity, and come down cleanly once the festival wraps — all on a tight seasonal schedule.
We have been doing this work every year since 2010. That kind of long-term repeat engagement does not happen by accident — it reflects the trust Tulip Time has placed in our Holland team year after year, and our commitment to showing up reliably for the community we have served since 1988.
A Community Partnership That Runs Deep
Tulip Time is not just a festival — it is one of Holland’s most important annual traditions. The 2025 festival drew nearly one million visitors and generated an estimated $50 million in economic impact for the Holland area. It has been recognized as the Best Flower Festival in America by USA Today and is one of the largest events of its kind in the United States.
Fence Consultants has had a Holland office since 1988. The community that has supported our business for nearly four decades deserves our support in return. Being part of Tulip Time — even in a behind-the-scenes role — is one of the ways we give back to Holland and Ottawa County.
Beyond the carnival fencing, Fence Consultants is also a Tulip Time community partner. Partner support helps fund the planting of five million tulips throughout the city each year, supports Dutch Dance, and keeps signature festival events — including parades and fireworks — free of charge for visitors.
A Look at the Work
Temporary Fencing for Events Across West Michigan
The work we do at Tulip Time is a good example of what our temporary fencing service looks like in practice. We provide temporary fence rental and installation for events, construction sites, and commercial projects throughout West Michigan. Whether you need crowd control fencing for a public event, site security during a construction project, or perimeter fencing for a private event, our team handles the installation and removal from start to finish.
We install temporary fencing across all three of our service areas — Grand Rapids, Holland, and Kalamazoo — and throughout northern Michigan.
Tulip Time 2026
The 2026 Tulip Time Festival runs May 1 through May 10 in Holland, Michigan. If you have not visited, it is worth the trip. Most outdoor events — including the Tulip Lanes, parades, and Dutch Dance performances — are free. Individual ticketed events including the Tulip Immersion Garden are available through tuliptime.com.
We will be there — as we have been every year since 2010. If you see the fence going up around the carnival, that is our team at work.
